Eye-Yah!

Where did my blog go?! As of this morning, it was no longer alive and I am now missing my 'Three Day Countdown' and 'Two Day Countdown' posts. But, for recap purposes...

  • Three Day Countdown -- something about the view from my desk in the Exchange Building... the clear sky and Olympic mountain silhouette... traffic crawling on northbound HI-99, and me not knowing if that feeling in my stomach was nerves over this whole move or indigestion.

  • Two Day Countdown -- more signs pointed to excitement in the two-day countdown, including the fact that I was narrowing down on a place to live (12-month vs. 2 week short-term rental) and that the TMoore bus would be leaving in 52 hours.
And NOW! One day to go!!!

I was up late last night chatting it up with my friends at Alaska Airlines, trying to figure this all out. Either having had a few margaritas last night (alcohol may inhibit judgment in others; it inhibits sleep for me) or this whole 'thing' has eliminated my body's ability to sleep. I'm wide awake, it's my morning now.

My flights are caddywampus and I no longer have a reservation for the 1:30PM flight tomorrow... I must have booked the 8AM by accident. This is a bummer for me as it now means an inconvenience to any friend I might ask for a lift. I'm really bummed about this. It also means arriving in Newark with my load of stuff right in the middle of rush hour... so a cab downtown will take A) forever and B) a load of cash. Not ideal. The 9PM arrival would have been ideal on both counts. I shouldn't complain -- I will be getting there and it shouldn't ruin just how outstanding my day was yesterday...

  • A Home! I secured a place to live!! Not a 2-week sublet as was the Master Plan until I could find a place full-time, but a furnished 1BR on the UES with my name all over it: http://public.fotki.com/Flaunt/public_albums/manhattan_apartment-1/my_apartment/. I decided to get "NYC Agro" yesterday and really go after it via both the landlord and the current tenent and wouldn't you know, it's mine! Many thanks to my friend Michele Little who ventured to the place to ensure it was really what it promised to be in the photos! And yes, there are 14 pics of the small bathroom behind that URL. :)

  • May in Seattle! I'm still pressing for it in a big way and think I actually may have made in-roads to be in Seattle in early/mid-May! What was a non-possiblity three weeks ago is slowly becoming a possiblity and I will continue to press for it -- using my cunning skills of organization and negotiation and logistic/event planning. Yes, I'm keeping this vague and yes, if you know my current manager, you might drop her hints that having our Q1 Financial Review the week of May 7 would be incredibly smart timing across the board.
If I'm not able to get on the 1:30 flight today -- inasmuch as I wrangle with Alaska, this will be my last 24 hours in Seattle. That's being a little dramatic since I'll be back to get my stuff after I move in and can check out what I actually need, but for all intents and purposes, that's the case. I will be moved. And, that gives me 24 hours from now to (also dramtic:) take it all in.

That's the news for now. Enjoy another post -- and the two recaps!

Todd
